Checks on electric scooters and bicycles have intensified in Cagliari. In recent days, a patrol of plainclothes local police motorcycle riders fined seven people for riding scooters without helmets .

Two pedal-assisted bicycles, converted into actual scooters by adding a throttle to avoid pedaling, as required for that type of vehicle, were also seized. The vehicles were found to be exceeding the maximum speed limit of 25 km/h.

Checks were carried out, as regards scooters, near school buildings during student entry and exit times and in other areas of the city as regards electric bicycles .

These checks will continue, local police emphasize, also to protect the safety of the drivers of these vehicles.
