"Stop confusing children's sexual identities" .
The posters posted by ProVita are making noise in Cagliari – not only in the capital but throughout Italy – with the slogan Stop Gender and the image of a child with a frowning gaze while two hands try to apply lipstick and a fuchsia bow .
Two municipal councilors Giulia Andreozzi and Francesca Mulas Fiori from Possibile Sardegna protest: «We find it extremely serious that even today these associations speak of "gender theory": in no school to date there is any teaching of "gender theory", an expression that does not exist except as translation of the English formula "gender studies" (a complex multidisciplinary research around the socio-cultural meanings of sexuality and identity). The face of the campaign, a sad child who is shown lipstick and a pink bow, is truly embarrassing: a minor who is forced to wear lipstick is false, dangerously misleading. And also extremely harmful, if we want to eradicate gender-related prejudices and stereotypes, the same ones that today see women always one step below men or assign roles and power based on gender".
Then the appeal to the mayor Paolo Truzzu to intervene for the removal: «We too, together with many associations and realities in Cagliari that have been expressing dissent since yesterday, ask that the mayor and the municipal administration have these posters removed : in the meantime they violate the recent legislation on road signs (Law 156 of 2021) which prohibits advertising that "proposes sexist or violent messages or offensive gender stereotypes or messages harmful to respect for individual freedoms, civil and political rights, religious beliefs or ethnic affiliation or discriminatory with reference to sexual orientation, gender identity or physical and mental abilities". And they propose false messages with an instrumental use of childhood. If our schools are in danger it is certainly not because of the campaigns against gender stereotypes but because of these obscurantist movements steeped in ignorance".
The final thrust is not missing: «When the City Council rejected our motion on the career alias for municipal employees, it did not (at least formally) put forward ideological reasons, but simply of "different priorities". This will be the proof: are you going to allow this horrendous, discriminatory and mystifying campaign to be carried out? ».
