Three French tourists, aboard a 9-meter sailing boat, were rescued by the Porto Torres Coast Guard after running aground on the shallow waters of Isola Piana, in the waters in front of the “La Pelosa” beach in Stintino.

The rescue operations began following a may-day launched by the commander of the pleasure craft who reported being aground and no longer able to maneuver. The Turritana harbor master's office ordered the dispatch of the patrol boat CP871 which quickly reached the 3 pleasure craft, fortunately unharmed.

Once the good health of the boaters had been ascertained, the stability of the stranded vessel had been verified and the favourable sea weather conditions had been taken into account, the military ordered the recovery.

On Friday morning, with the help of a local Stintino company, the vessel was refloated and escorted to the port of Stintino.
