« Relations are excellent with the councilor for Productive Activities and Tourism. Alessandro Sorgia enjoys my total political and personal trust." Paolo Truzzu comes out publicly to clarify that entrusting the organization of the New Year's Eve celebrations in Cagliari to the Department of Culture is not an insult to the (political) exponent of his council.

The mayor also assures: «We are perfectly in time to organize a great New Year's Eve for Cagliari residents and tourists» . For now only hypotheses are circulating: the latest, in chronological order, puts Marco Mengoni on stage. There was also talk of Irama, Elodie, Annalisa and Max Pezzali. Negotiations are ongoing. But so far the only certainty is that the music will resonate in Piazza dei Centomila. It would be impossible to set up the stands at the foot of Largo Carlo Felice: they would be surrounded by construction sites - in Via Roma and Piazza Matteotti - and the escape routes, with tens of thousands of spectators, must be free.

However, time is running out on the star. There are 40 days left until New Year's Eve. And if it is true that Blanco's name for 2023 was made official on December 2, it is equally true that security and organization had been worked on for a long time before.

Now we are starting almost from scratch, with an inter-departmental task force that must operate at a rapid pace so as not to miss the appointment with 2024. The department led by Maria Dolores Picciau will hold the helm. And if the problem is not relations with Sorgia, why the change of direction decided in a council meeting called for Friday evening?

The hypothesis: the heads of the Tourism offices had imposed a series of procedural bottlenecks (such as a public call for the identification of the singer) which risked ending more before Easter 2024 than on New Year's Eve. Hence the decision to change administrative path, not just location.
