To the countless tributes accompanying the passing of journalist and writer Sergio Frau, there is that of the community of Sorgono, which, through Mayor Franco Zedde, pays homage to "a great friend of the area."

In a statement, the mayor of the Mandrolisai capital thanked Sergio Frau, curator and creator of the local "Omphalos" museum and the local Past Remote Festival: "He is a great man and professional," Zedde writes, "who has successfully combined curiosity, rigorous investigation, and a passion for ancient history. With his research, he has challenged traditional interpretations of history, particularly between myth and archaeology, sparking debates and reflections on previously written histories and theories."

For the mayor of Sorgono, Frau's passing is a great loss for Sardinian and national cultural heritage: "Through his voice, newspaper pages, magazines, and books," Zedde adds, "Sergio Frau left an indelible mark on the historical, archaeological, and cultural landscape, giving Sorgono a leading role in his ambitious project. He thus brought prestige and importance to a region like central Sardinia, on the fringes of traditional tourist flows."

But it is when reflecting on Frau's initiatives in the village that Zedde adds: "He succeeded in creating a cultural and tourist museum of great interest and quality for the entire Mandrolisai area. We will remember him as a person of great historical value. A researcher who instilled in all Sardinians the pride and awareness of being part of a great and glorious history."

Concluding: "His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill," Zedde emphasizes. "His thoughts will remain indelible, and his words will live on through debates and articles. Together with the memories of those who were fortunate enough to meet him."
