The value of the Capoterra property sold by former Regional President Christian Solinas to Cagliari businessman Roberto Zedda, owner of the company Arionline, which managed contracts for the Region, is approximately €100,000, not €550,000. This is the conviction of the expert appointed by the Court, who submitted the appraisal of the former monastery to the judges of the Second Criminal Section: according to the Prosecutor's Office (which had valued it at €72,000), the difference between the actual value and the amount indicated in the deed of sale was the price of a bribe paid in exchange for a "servitude" to the former governor. Of that estimated value (€550,000), the businessman had paid €375,000. The defense lawyers' court battle was a foregone conclusion: the various consultants for the main defendants had valued the property at a figure very close to that indicated in the sales contract.
Meanwhile, the trial resumed this morning before the panel presided over by Judge Giovanni Massidda: Solinas is on trial on corruption charges along with six other co-defendants. The case of the sale of the Capoterra property, according to the prosecution, conceals the former governor's subservience to Zedda for favors in connection with the purchase of thermal scanners and other contracts by the Region. However, according to Prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia, who led the Guardia di Finanza investigation, the PSD'Az leader also allegedly promised a regional appointment in exchange for an honorary degree from an Albanian university and courses at an online university. The former president has forcefully denied all these accusations, reiterating the correctness of his conduct in every court. Solinas and Zedda's lawyers, Salvatore Casula and Guido Manca Bitti, are fighting against the investigators' reconstruction.
Also charged with corruption, for allegedly acting as a middleman in the deal, is former regional councilor Nanni Lancioni, represented by lawyer Francesco Marongiu. In the second charge, the prosecution alleges that Roberto Raimondi 's appointment to the management of a regional body was obtained in exchange for an honorary degree in Albania and courses at a Roman online university. In addition to Solinas and Raimondi, the trial also includes the president's former advisor, Christian Stevelli, the rector of the University of Tirana, Arben Gjata, and the rector of the E-Campus University, Alfonso Lovito.
