A tourist vacationing in Solanas found a loggerhead sea turtle nest on the beach this morning. Last night, some people walking along the shore had already seen the turtle entering and exiting the water; a few hours ago, the spot where the animal laid its eggs was discovered.
Experts from the Marine Protected Area were immediately notified, and regional and municipal staff intervened. The Port Authority was also notified, and will fence off the area (already cordoned off shortly after the discovery) to prevent swimmers from damaging the eggs.
The nest is very close to the water, it may need to be moved further inland .
