End of the mild climate period. Clear skies and high temperatures are giving way to a vast cyclonic disturbed area arriving from Scandinavia and which from Saturday will bring a gradual worsening to Sardinia, with an increase in cloudiness, rain, some thunderstorms, strong winds and snow on the reliefs above 700 meters in the interior of the island. This situation will cause a significant drop in temperatures, on average 8 degrees less.

According to the Air Force meteorological office at the Decimomannu base, the possibility of rain will move from the north in the morning until reaching the southern part in the evening, with "some local thunderstorms and showers, brief clearings and temporary improvements".

During the night between Sunday and Monday, snow will return to Sardinia above 700 meters in Gennargentu and Limbara: "The snowfall will also accompany us for a good part of Monday in the central-northern part, where the snow cover will be quite high", explain the experts.

Of course, a temperature drop of 8-10 degrees on average in all territories. In Campidano it will go from 18-20 degrees to 8 degrees, in the more internal areas it will reach 4 degrees while in the hills and on the reliefs the temperatures will go back to below zero.

However, already today, the island will be hit by strong gusts of mistral that will exceed 100 km/h in the eastern part, while on Saturday they will veer from the south-western quadrants with an intensity that will reach 80 km/h.

"For Sunday we can expect storm surges along all coasts," observe the Air Force weather office, "due to the rotation of the winds between Saturday and Monday."
