After the forecasts, which announced a drop in temperatures of about 10 degrees, the warning from the Civil Protection of Sardinia also arrives, which has issued a snow alert bulletin.
The lower Tyrrhenian Sea, it is written, is affected by a cyclonic system characterized by closed lows both on the ground and at altitude. On central-northern Europe there is instead a marked high pressure field. « Between these two baric structures, cold air of Arctic origin flows towards the western Mediterranean ». Therefore, during the day tomorrow the cyclonic system will remain stationary in the vicinity of Sicily, determining « advection of cold and humid air from the north-east on Sardinia, with the entry of the -4° isotherm at 850 hpa on the eastern sectors of the island ».
The consequence: "Starting from today's afternoon (12/01/2025) and until late tomorrow evening (13/01/2025), isolated precipitation is expected, even in the form of showers, with locally moderate cumulative amounts, on the eastern sector. The precipitation described could be snowy starting from 800-900 meters this afternoon, dropping in altitude to 600 meters starting from the early hours of tomorrow".
And local border crossings into the internal sectors of the north-western area are not excluded.
