Forensic analysis reveals that the skull, found on November 15, 2025, in the countryside near Badianu, between Ploaghe and Codrongianos, belongs to Gianni Pittui, the elderly man who disappeared from the nursing home on September 14. The 75-year-old pensioner, originally from Florinas, had left the L'Ancora facility in Ploaghe, within the former San Giovanni Battista Foundation complex.
The skull resurfaced from the earth on Saturday, November 15, 2025, while a farmer was working his fields. The remains, once found, were handed over to the Carabinieri in Ploaghe. Investigators' initial hypothesis was that it belonged to one of those who had disappeared from the Ploaghe RSAs, the elderly Gianni Pittui or Guido Manca, who had left the facility some time ago but was never found.
Now comes a turning point, four months after her disappearance, following a voluntary departure followed by a desperate search by her family. The search extended to the municipalities surrounding Ploaghe.
