Fraudulent text messages asking for payments or to call phone numbers, often under the guise of alleged irregularities involving municipal taxes such as the TARI (waste tax), are also circulating in Sinnai. In a statement, the municipal administration reminds users that "any official communications are sent exclusively through official channels , primarily the Municipality's protocol." It also reminds users that " payments or personal information are never requested via text message, and the Municipality does not use toll-free numbers for payment requests or verification."
What to do if you receive a suspicious SMS? "Do not click on links in the message, do not provide personal or banking information, delete the message. If in doubt, contact the relevant municipal offices directly at the official numbers (for example, for the Tax Office, see the contact details)."
The Administration invites all citizens to " pay the utmost attention and to share this information , especially with the most vulnerable people, who are often the main victims of this type of scam."
