Four years of growth, enthusiasm, and rediscovered roots. The most anticipated event returns today to Sinnai schools: "Sa di' de su sardu," organized by the Istituto comprensivo 1-2, which brings the Sardinian language out of the classroom and celebrates it in the heart of the community. For the fourth consecutive year, today Piazza Santa Barbara will become a large open-air laboratory dedicated to the language and culture of the island.

Two hundred students from preschool, elementary, and middle schools will be the protagonists of a morning in Sardinian, featuring workshops, guest speakers, dramatizations, and games. The closing event will feature a performance by singer-songwriter Claudia Aru.

The success of previous editions has fueled the project's growth: this year, 16 Insulas courses are available in the district's schools, in addition to annual lessons at the Piazza Scuole school and the support of the municipality's language workers. Merchants have decorated their shop windows in Sardinian style.

"Growing up with two languages," recalls teacher Valeria Zedda, the project's creator, "brings proven cognitive benefits: increased attention span, concentration, and ease in learning foreign languages. But the most profound value is identity: feeling part of a history and a culture protects children and roots them in their community. Today, many other schools in Sardinia look to Sinnai as a model." During events at the library, Casa Zedda, the Oratory of Santa Barbara, and the Museum, various initiatives on the Sardinian language and the island's history are planned. Also planned are a Sardinian science lab and the production of ricotta and cheese.
