A suspicious package arriving in Sindia from the United States was reported to the NAS (National Anti-Adulteration and Sanitation Unit) in Sassari, who were monitoring the shipment and, yesterday, intervened, detaining the recipient, a 24-year-old local man, as soon as he received the package and its contents from the courier. Inside, the Carabinieri of the Anti-Adulteration and Sanitation Unit found a kilogram of hashish, divided into ten perfectly sealed blocks to conceal the unmistakable odor. Perhaps something went wrong along the way, and they figured out what was hidden inside that seemingly anonymous package.
When they extended the search to the rest of the house, the Carabinieri also discovered sums of money, though not large, and drug packaging materials. The young man was arrested by the Sassari unit and today, in court in Oristano, he appeared with his lawyer, Riccardo Uda, to answer charges of drug possession. The lawyer opted for a plea bargain, agreeing with Deputy Prosecutor Silvia Mascia to a sentence of one year and six months . Judge Federica Colantonio accepted the measure, releasing the 24-year-old.
