Siligo joins the Network of Witches' Cities. This coming September 5th, at the Janara Festival – The Witches of Benevento, a particularly important moment for the town will take place: the Municipality of Siligo will be officially admitted to the prestigious Network of Witches' Cities, alongside iconic locations such as Triora, Salem (USA), Benevento, and many others.
Representing Siligo at the opening conference at the Benevento Municipal Theater will be Mayor Giovanni Porcheddu, who will bring the town's voice and announce its entry into the network. Paolo Bellotti, president of Intrecci Culturali, will also be present.
This recognition also comes thanks to the Ammajare Festival, which has promoted the memory and reflection surrounding the figure of the so-called "witch of Siligo" Julia Carta, a woman tried by the Inquisition and who became a symbol of resistance, knowledge, and historical memory.
A step that enriches the community and highlights the cultural and identity value of a region steeped in myths, knowledge, and traditions spanning centuries. The event, scheduled for Benevento from September 5th to 7th, is a journey through history, herbs, astrology, and magic that celebrates the bond between the Network's municipalities.
