Sardinia is the protagonist at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025 with Siddùra , which takes home three platinum medals, the only winery in Italy to achieve a hat-trick in the most prestigious competition in the world.
An extraordinary result achieved with Maìa, Vermentino di Gallura Docg Superiore, Èrema, Cannonau di Sardegna Doc, and Nùali, Passito di Moscato, all awarded 97 points out of 100, the score needed to enter the Olympus of world wine .
"These medals are the result of years of commitment and tireless work, and reward our vision: to enhance the native vines of Sardinia through a continuous search for quality, from the vineyard to the bottle. Bringing three wines so different from each other, but united by quality, to the podium is a very strong signal", intervenes Mattia Piludu, general manager of Siddùra.
Of the more than 18,000 wines competing from 57 countries, and 30 platinum medals awarded to Italian wines, three are signed Siddùra : an absolute record for an Italian winery and a confirmation of the level of excellence achieved by the Gallura estate.
At its 22nd edition, the Decanter World Wine Awards involved 248 international experts, including 72 Masters of Wine and 22 Master Sommeliers, the highest number in the history of the competition. The wines were tasted strictly blind and evaluated exclusively on quality. "We have worked on all the wines in the range since the beginning. Grapes are a product of nature and are the result of a year of work by many people. This is why we must respect them: only in this way can we bring out the best in every single vineyard and every single wine", explains Siddùra's winemaker, Dino Dini. "Being awarded by a competition like the Dwwa means being recognized among the best in the world by an elite jury. This opens up new scenarios for us in international markets and confirms the strength of our project: exporting Sardinian excellence to the world", adds Massimiliano Farci, sales director of the Luogosanto winery.
