The case, a case of extreme commercial malpractice handled by Adiconsum Cagliari, was resolved with the complete cancellation of the financial claims, but not without leaving deep bitterness for the way it arose. The association intervened to support a Cagliari resident who had received a formal notice for electricity bills registered to her deceased sister , located in the municipality of Pinasca (Turin).

The story borders on paradox and goes beyond the bounds of decency, Adiconsum emphasizes: "The woman in whose name the contracts were registered, in addition to having passed away in January 2023, suffered from Down syndrome and was completely incapacitated. Despite this, and despite the fact that she had never had any ties or property in Piedmont , the contracts in her name were activated after her death , constituting a clear case of identity theft at the expense of a vulnerable individual."

Adiconsum Cagliari filed a formal complaint , "following which, the management of the company involved acknowledged the seriousness of the infringement and offered their necessary cooperation to promptly resolve the issue, arranging for the cancellation of the contracts and the complete cancellation of all previously claimed unpaid amounts."

"We are pleased that the company promptly acknowledged the gravity of the matter, eliminating a shameful situation," says Simone Girau, president of Adiconsum Cagliari. "However, the alarm remains extremely serious regarding an activation system devoid of filters and controls, where business brokers even hunt customers in cemeteries. We urge citizens not to be intimidated by debt collection letters and to immediately report any anomalies to Adiconsum Cagliari."
