The theory is clear: he used people's solidarity like a cash machine, inventing an illness he didn't have. He built a scam around the greatest fear of all, a serious illness, through a fundraiser.

At the center of the investigation is a 38-year-old woman from Tertenia, reported by the Arbatax Financial Police for forgery, fraud, and slander. According to investigators, there was no serious illness. There was a plan.

The woman allegedly falsified everything: medical certificates and diagnoses that appeared to come from a center in Ravenna and a practice in Tortolì, and even a €9,000 estimate from a hospital in Frankfurt, where she claimed she needed treatment because she was "inoperable" in Italy, according to the medical records she had altered. The evidence shattered the pretense of a fake patient. The military went to Italy and Germany to retrieve the original documents. They interviewed the doctors and discovered that none of it was true.
