A barking dog saves a life. Yesterday afternoon, in Sassari, the incessant barking of a bulldog, coming from a suburban neighborhood courtyard, attracted the attention of a neighbor. He immediately notified animal control officer Manuel Chessa, who, upon arriving, received no response, neither when he knocked on the window nor the door. An elderly person lives in the home, and this heightened concern for the woman's fate.

Chessa's perseverance leads him to ask around, eventually managing to get the phone number of the woman's granddaughter. When contacted, the woman says she no longer visits her grandmother, but that she has the keys to the house. When the two enter, they discover the cause of the incessant barking. The owner had been on the floor in the bathroom for hours after falling, unable to get up or call for help.

A timely and collaborative effort by the animal welfare officer, her granddaughter, and the animal, saved the 80-year-old, who was unable to call for help. Finally, a hug between the young woman and her grandmother sealed an episode that, this time, ended happily.
