The island is bracing for further deterioration in the weather. The regional Civil Protection Department has issued a weather alert starting today, Saturday, November 8th, at 2:00 PM and will remain in effect until 2:59 PM tomorrow, Sunday, November 9th.

The most exposed areas will be the Iglesiente and Campidano regions, where an orange code has been assigned for hydrogeological risk, meaning the possibility of landslides and flooding due to heavy rains. A yellow code has also been issued in the same areas for thunderstorms, with locally heavy rainfall.

However, a standard critical situation (yellow code) remains in the areas of Montevecchio Pischinappiu, Flumendosa-Flumineddu and Tirso, where showers and disruption in the most vulnerable areas cannot be ruled out.

Authorities urge residents to exercise caution when traveling and to avoid underpasses, waterways, and areas prone to flooding. They are also advised to follow updates on official Civil Protection channels.
