The provincial commander of the Cagliari Carabinieri, Brigadier General Luigi Grasso, visited the Sestu Carabinieri Station. Greeted by the commander of the Quartu Sant'Elena Company, Major Michele Cerri, he met with the station commander, Lieutenant Riccardo Pirali, and all the military personnel on duty, dedicating to them "a heartfelt moment of closeness and gratitude for their daily commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and for their constant presence in the area."
Subsequently, the Provincial Commander led a moment of operational discussion with the personnel present, focusing on the main needs of the Sestu area and the prospects for developing the Sestu Carabinieri's actions to increase security. He emphasized that the Carabinieri's mission is not limited to combating crime, but is rooted in an attentive, discreet, and continuous presence alongside citizens.
After his visit to the station, General Grasso proceeded to the Sestu Town Hall, where he was welcomed by Mayor Maria Paola Secci. During the cordial meeting, the Provincial Commander thanked the municipal administration for its constant attention and sensitivity to the Carabinieri. The meeting took place in an atmosphere of collaboration and mutual respect, during which ongoing initiatives and potential future synergies between the Carabinieri and the Municipality for the benefit of the citizens were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on joint prevention and social support projects. Mayor Secci expressed gratitude for the Carabinieri's ongoing collaboration, noting that the Carabinieri's presence represents a source of stability and trust for all citizens.
General Grasso's visit concluded with a particularly meaningful moment at the Falcone and Borsellino Park of Legality, a memorial site for the victims of the fight against the Mafia. Here, the high-ranking officer paid tribute to Police Officer Manuela Loi, who was killed in the Via D'Amelio massacre. The visit to Sestu is part of the direct contact activities General Grasso is carrying out with subordinate Commands throughout the province. The goal is to strengthen dialogue with the local community, enhance the military's expertise, and foster an ever-deeper bond between the Carabinieri and the Sardinian community.
