Caught red-handed while trying to steal from the “Michelangelo Buonarroti” school in Serramanna.
A 49-year-old homeless man originally from Decimomannu and already known to law enforcement was arrested last night by Carabinieri from the Operational Unit of the Operational and Radiomobile Unit of the Sanluri Company.
The officers were conducting a patrol to combat the increasingly frequent phenomenon of nighttime thefts within schools. They caught the 49-year-old inside the school, where he had gained entry after forcing open the back door using burglary tools.
The man was immediately arrested and searched, and the burglary tool used to gain entry to the school was seized. After reconstructing the incident and completing the necessary formalities, the 49-year-old was released to the judicial authorities pending the decision of the prosecutor on duty.
