A long trail of fires, between 2019 and 2023. All in the Oristano area, in the Usellus area . Always in summer, always in the hottest hours. The young man was arrested yesterday by the staff of the Forestry Corps of the Villaurbana station and the investigative unit of the Oristano inspectorate, on the orders of the investigating judge who issued a precautionary custody order in prison for aggravated arson and aggravated forest fire.

The forestry men began investigating a very long series of fires some time ago which caused enormous damage in the Usellus area , from 2019 to 2023. In 2022 a fire in the Turaci area destroyed a cork oak forest and Mediterranean scrub.

The fires, always malicious in nature, broke out between the months of June, July and August, during the hottest hours . And in different areas, from Piraferta to Campu Sarais, from Meriagu to Turaci. They have caused great concern among farmers and breeders, because the flames have more than once endangered livestock and farms , also threatening the town centre.

The Forest Service's investigations were immediately directed towards the 21-year-old, SE, who frequented the area where the fires occurred for work reasons. Over time, the specialists of the Forestry Corps managed to acquire serious indications of guilt against the young man, who was investigated for several fires and therefore arrested yesterday on the orders of the investigating judge of Oristano and taken to Massama prison .
