"A precious work that has captured the essence of Sardinian culture, its everyday life, its simplicity, and its explosive power." With these words, Elisabetta Frau, scientific director of the Senorbì museum and archaeological park, introduced the conference "Max Leopold Wagner's Journey to Sardinia, Linguist, Anthropologist, and Photographer," held at the Domu Nosta Archaeological Museum (MADN) with the scientific contribution of Felice Tiragallo, professor of Demo-ethno-anthropological disciplines at the University of Cagliari.
A passionate expert on Sardinian linguistics, the German anthropologist highlighted the most important aspects of the island's language: from phonetics to morphology, from word formation to lexicon, all from a rigorously scientific perspective. "Wagner fell in love with Sardinia and paid tribute to it with a profound, detailed analysis rich in unexpected insights," explained Elisabetta Frau. "Professor Tiragallo has captured and re-presented to the public the essence of the German anthropologist's love for our island, the inexhaustible fascination it exerted on him, and the maturity he achieved after a long journey of study and understanding."
