On Tuesday 19 September the acropolis on the hill of Santu Teru, in the countryside of Senorbì, the University of Cagliari, in agreement with the municipal administration of Senorbì, will open the archaeological excavation site to the public with the aim of making known the evidence found in the area and illustrate the new study and research project.

In fact, archaeological investigations on the San Teodoro plateau (Santu Teru) have resumed for a few days now, involving over ten students from the University of Cagliari under the guidance of teachers Carla Del Vais and Marco Giuman.

Excavations under concession from the Ministry of Culture, the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and Southern Sardinia to the Department of Literature, Languages and Cultural Heritage of the University of Cagliari. The commitment of the Municipality of Senorbì and the Sa Domu Nosta cooperative which manages the archaeological museum in the center of the town is also fundamental from a logistical and organizational point of view.

This is the program of the day: from 10am to 12pm the guided tour dedicated to the local General Luigi Mezzacapo middle school, from 1pm to 4.30pm the route dedicated to the community and anyone interested. The excavation campaign aims to increase knowledge of the local history of the town in the heart of Trexenta. «The intervention – explains the mayor Alessandro Pireddu – is part of a multi-year program of historical research, through which we intend to give continuity to the restart of the excavation activity which started again after about half a century».
