The Christmas train set up in Piazza Italia in Senorbì was targeted by vandals, so much so that municipal workers were forced to proceed with its removal .

Mayor Alessandro Pireddu announced the incident on his social media channels: "It is with great regret that we announce that the Christmas train, part of the decorations the City had put up for the holidays, had to be removed from Piazza Italia because it was damaged."

For several years, during the Christmas holidays, the city administration has decorated the elementary school square with Christmas-themed displays and decorations, especially to the delight of children. The perpetrators of the vandalism may have been caught on camera.

"The Piazza Italia area is under video surveillance, so it was found that those responsible are children and adolescents," Pireddu continues. "We hope for greater accountability and civic responsibility among young people and their parents, since the displays, like all other street furniture, represent a common good for the community and involve costs we all pay." The mayor, not so subtly, calls on those responsible to come forward and take responsibility.
