The demolition and asbestos removal works of the former school in via Mazzini have been completed and the area will soon be able to be transformed into an equipped urban park .

This morning the mayor, Nicola Sassu, with the technicians of the Municipality and the representatives of the specialized company Verde Vita srl, which carried out the work, made an inspection to verify the works carried out within the scope of the "Operational plan for the environment, interventions for the protection of the territory and water FSC 2014-202 - Asbestos removal and disposal works on the vertical structures of the former secondary school via Mazzini", created and carried out thanks to regional funding of 3.5 million euros (tied only to the demolition, reclamation and disposal works), awarded to the Municipality of Sennori for the validity and importance of the project.

The scheduled demolition, remediation and disposal works were completed in compliance with all the requirements and safety standards for the removal and disposal of asbestos . On-site surveys were also carried out to certify the perfect execution of the remediation and the total absence of any trace of asbestos in the air and soil.

To complete the works envisaged by the contract , in autumn/winter, when the agronomic conditions are ideal, we will proceed with the spreading of topsoil on the area and the planting of Sardinian trees . The process for the design of the park has already been started and the Municipal Administration, once the necessary funds have been found, will proceed with the creation of the multifunctional park, in which spaces will be created for sports activities, for children's games and for walks and relaxation in the open air.

The new park will be connected to other green areas in the area, the Scala promenade and the park dedicated to the sculptor Giampiero Pazzola (also undergoing redevelopment work), creating a network of urban parks available to citizens.
