The Sassari Court of Appeal recently rejected the prosecutor's appeal against the statute of limitations imposed on former mayor of Sennori, Roberto Desini, and the other nine defendants. The preliminary hearing judge's decision came in 2023 following proceedings into the alleged crime of ideological falsity committed by a public official in public documents. According to the charges, they concealed debts incurred by the municipality with Enel between 2013 and 2015. The appeal, filed by prosecutor Angelo Beccu, was however rejected by the Court, presided over by Judge Maria Teresa Lupinu, with Giovanni Delogu and Salvatore Carboni as associate judges. Along with the former mayor, the councilors of that administration, Mario Satta, Francesco Senes, Antioco Lampis, Vincenzo Leoni, and Giovanni Cocco, were acquitted. The same ruling was also issued for the City Council's Secretary General, Gavina Turra, the managers of the Technical Area and the Financial Sector, Gianni Melis and Nicolina Cattari, respectively, as well as the auditor Nicola Navarre. Defending the defendants were lawyers Luca Montella and Cristina Sardu, Pietro Diaz and Simona Todde, Debora Giudice, Edoardo Vassallo, Mariano Doro, Nicola Satta, Lorenzo Soro, Loredana Martinez, and Annamaria Busia.
