The wild boar containment plan launched by the Municipality of Sennori last night was not completed. The operation was hindered by some farmland owners who chose to remain on their land, in the dark, during the operations, using drums and voices to scare the wild boars away and prevent them from approaching the designated culling point.

This situation made it impossible to proceed and, more importantly, compromised the safety of the operation. It's unsafe for people to remain on the land during nighttime containment operations, especially considering that wild boars are wild animals that, if frightened or injured, can react unpredictably. The owners themselves, finding themselves in the dark and close to the animals, exposed themselves to a real risk.

The Municipality is deeming this an emergency situation. The presence of wild boars is causing significant damage to crops and the surrounding landscape, posing a threat to road safety and human safety, as well as having repercussions on ecosystems and wildlife. Their activity also affects other species, including reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, and birds that nest or lay their eggs on the ground.

For these reasons, containment activities will continue in the coming days, as planned and as directed by the competent authorities. "We firmly condemn what happened. The operations are authorized and are being carried out by competent personnel according to precise safety procedures," emphasized the municipal administration, which has reported the incident to the relevant authorities to identify any culpability of those who obstructed the implementation of the ordinance, with the resulting legally required reports.
