A 20-year-old man is under house arrest, and a minor has been entrusted to his family after falling prey to the Carabinieri, who are investigating a preventative operation launched in Selargius and the surrounding hinterland on the orders of the Quartu Police.
In Selargius, the military ordered two young men on a moped to stop. To avoid being stopped, they suddenly accelerated and began a very dangerous escape through the streets of the town, even recklessly driving the wrong way down a road.
The Carabinieri, also to avoid risks to road safety and to the young people themselves, attempted to follow them from a distance without ever losing sight of them, activating other patrols that quickly slowed their escape and apprehended them without serious consequences, identifying a minor driving and an adult in the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the person, his moped, and his home yielded the following, belonging to the adult only: 13 grams of hashish; over €100 in cash, presumed to be the proceeds of drug dealing; precision scales and other materials for packaging and cutting drugs, all of which were seized.
Following the formal procedures, by order of the Cagliari Juvenile Judicial Authority, the minor was escorted to his home and placed in the custody of his parents, while the adult was transferred to his residence under house arrest.
Yesterday and during the night, the Carabinieri of the Quartu Sant'Elena Company, supported by the military of the Monserrato and Sestu Stations as well as by the personnel of the Quartu Radiomobile Section, conducted a vast and complex coordinated territorial control service aimed at preventing and repressing widespread crime and ensuring road safety. This service led to significant results on several fronts, with the control of almost seventy people and over forty vehicles and mopeds in transit.
