When the Carabinieri arrived in force, he was intent on attacking a turtle with a machete to eat it.

One of the occupants of an industrial warehouse on the outskirts of Selargius, where a complex judicial police operation conducted by Carabinieri officers was carried out this morning, has also been charged with animal cruelty and killing. Nineteen people have been charged with illegal occupation of a building: all Nigerians and Senegalese.

A carefully planned raid carried out in recent days at the headquarters of the Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the Prefect of Cagliari, and authorized by order of the Police Commissioner. The operation was preceded by a careful assessment of operational conditions and potential critical issues.

The operation was conducted by Carabinieri officers from the Quartu Sant'Elena Company , with the crucial support of members of the Sardinia Hunter Helicopter Squadron, the 9th Sardinia Carabinieri Battalion, the Cagliari Provincial Command's Canine Unit, and the 11th Carabinieri Helicopter Unit from Elmas. Once the area was secured, the patrols entered the warehouse and identified the occupants.

The verification of the legal status of those present in Italy was made possible thanks to the timely support of the Immigration Office of the Cagliari Police Headquarters, which assisted the officers during the identification process. Upon completion of the checks, only one case of irregularity was identified, involving a citizen with an expired residence permit. The relevant authorities are currently assessing the situation.
