During the night, the Carabinieri of the Selargius Station arrested a 55-year-old unemployed local man, already known to the police, held responsible for the crime of possession with intent to sell narcotics.
The operation is the result of a long-term investigative effort by the Carabinieri, who, thanks to their in-depth knowledge of the social fabric and dynamics of the area, were able to gather and leverage a wealth of information, reports, and street-level evidence. The Carabinieri's attention had gradually focused on the man, whose home had been identified, through multiple surveillance operations, as a prime location for illegal activities. Indeed, the evidence gathered during the surveillance operations and the suspicious movements observed near his home led the officers to believe that drug trafficking was taking place there. A targeted operation was therefore organized, during which the Carabinieri proceeded to check on the suspect. The subsequent personal and home search yielded 94 grams of marijuana, 122 grams of hashish, 50 euros in cash believed to be the proceeds of the illegal activity, and various packaging materials.
After completing the formal procedures, the arrested man was taken back to his home under house arrest, pending the sentencing hearing currently underway before the Judicial Authority.
