The latest episode happened a few days ago, with the usual benches in the park on Via Monte Bianco - in the Su Planu neighborhood - targeted. This time, however, the electronic eyes installed by the Municipality and monitored by the local Police, immortalized everything: an ordinary afternoon in the park where some kids - all minors - had fun dismantling the cube-bench positioned in a panoramic spot of the neighborhood, already put to the test in recent months with graffiti and other acts of vandalism.
This time the scenes were filmed by the municipal video surveillance system, with the faces of the children clearly visible.
"I want to share with all of you these images - very sad - recorded by some cameras installed in the area", wrote the mayor Gigi Concu on his Facebook page.
"I am referring in particular to the area with the games and benches that we created in Su Planu, in via Monte Bianco, with the intent of offering a service to the community. Now those games and seats have been vandalized several times, as these videos testify, where you can also see the brilliant authors of these great deeds. Evidently bored kids but old enough to understand that detaching the beams and therefore destroying a public asset (to simulate a fight) is not only an action punishable by law but I don't think it's even constructive and fun."
Obviously, the mayor adds, "we will try to identify the protagonists and get in touch with the families so that they know and can take action, with the hope that unjustifiable and senseless episodes like this will never happen again."
