The expert assessment of the clothing worn at the time of death by Mario Sedda, the 39-year-old street poet killed in Porto Torres on the night between March 29 and 30, 2021, has been suspended. The one-off technical tests had been scheduled for Friday, July 11, at the RIS laboratories in Cagliari.
Alessandra Delrio, the lawyer representing Emanuele Sircana, the 20-year-old who was arrested on June 4th on charges of murder and desecration of a corpse, has reserved the right to request an evidentiary hearing, postponing the proceedings ordered by the Sassari Prosecutor's Office, until she files a motion with the investigating judge, who will rule on the matter.
The defense has ten days to submit a request to carry out the same tests, but under the supervision of the investigating judge, on Sedda's clothes and on the soil present at the site where the body was found.
The judge himself will decide whether to uphold the case and appoint a court expert. The 39-year-old's body was found on April 1, 2021, behind bushes in a green area on Via Sassari, at the entrance to the city of Porto Torres.
