Bancali prison is understaffed, some facilities are inadequate, and security systems continue to malfunction. This is according to the ConSiPe prison police union , which visited the facility this morning with its national secretary, Roberto Melis , accompanied by its regional secretary, Gianluca Ghisaura , and the entire local secretariat.
The trade union organization reports that, since the last inspection, nothing has changed, despite, as the statement states, "the promises made by management." The statement highlights the criticality of several gates, including the security locks and the doors to sleeping quarters, which is impacting the officers' work. Discussions with them revealed, the union reports, "a widespread discontent ," linked, it emphasizes, to the fact that seniority is not always respected in job assignments, "and that shift changes are sometimes communicated late or not at all, generating disorganization and tension."
"Prison Police personnel," stated Roberto Melis, "cannot continue to work in conditions that jeopardize their safety, dignity, and professional serenity. It is unacceptable that, despite reassurances, nothing has been done to resolve problems we have known about for years. Bancali needs immediate action, not further delays." At the end of the visit, ConSiPe met with the prison's deputy director, who agreed to review the critical issues identified , reiterating her commitment to finding solutions.
