Search for Davide Manca suspended in the dark: the missing person in Monte Arcosu has not been found
Forty-one year old from Cagliari swept away by flood Saturday night, the second day of work of the rescue teams also had no success. We start again tomorrowThe second day of searching for Davide Manca, the forty-one-year-old man from Cagliari who has been missing in Monte Arcosu since his Jeep Wrangler was overwhelmed by a flood wave while he was trying to ford a stream, ended without success.
Manca, an expert sailor and skipper, was with seven others. They were supposed to spend the night in a shelter in the oasis of the deer. But the violent storm that hit the south of Sardinia transformed the evening of fun into a drama.
The vehicle was dragged away while being moved to a place that should have been safer.
The firefighters, Alpine and Speleological Rescue, Guardia di Finanza and Civil Protection teams have been working since the early hours of Sunday and have resumed scouring the area since dawn today with helicopters, drones with heat detectors and groups on the ground: the search area can only be reached by air, the roads have been devastated by the force of the water.
The operations continued with the search of both banks of the riverbed, starting from the point where the car was found yesterday, for over a kilometre downstream along the stream, in the direction of the Medau Zirimilis dam.
However, there is no trace of Davide Manca: the teams will return to the site tomorrow, Tuesday 29 October.
