A meeting to express gratitude and appreciation to the men who saved a man at sea in Quartu Sant'Elena on February 12th. This morning, the provincial commander of the Carabinieri, Brigadier General Luigi Grasso, personally met with the crew members of the Aliquota Motovedetta, who were instrumental in the timely rescue operation along the Quartu coast.
The meeting was an opportunity to express the entire institution's deepest gratitude to the military personnel who, thanks to their initiative and ability to read the operational scenario, prevented a tragedy. The crew had seen a car crash into the roundabout between the Lungomare del Golfo and Viale Colombo. Sensing the danger, they expanded the search to locate the driver, who, having left the vehicle, had ended up at the mercy of the waves. Despite the difficulties, the military personnel did not hesitate to use makeshift vehicles provided by private individuals to reach the man and rescue him, subsequently entrusting him to medical care for the onset of hypothermia.
General Grasso emphasized how the incident transcends the mere fulfillment of duty, becoming a concrete testament to the most intrinsic and profound values that reside within the soul of every Carabiniere. The intervention not only speaks of clarity and operational readiness, but embodies the essence of the force's mission: to be a bastion of security and a humane point of reference for anyone in need. The ability to serve citizens in every circumstance, even the most unpredictable and risky, acting courageously to safeguard human life, represents the noblest expression of the Carabinieri's mission and the very concept of closeness to the public.
