The threat of further cuts existed, and precisely for this reason, the decisions made by government commissioner Francesco Feliziani regarding the regional school system were greeted with a great sigh of relief in Oristano's educational and political circles. Indeed, the confirmation of the current school structure, without further consolidations for the 2026/2027 school year, was welcomed with satisfaction. "The decision," explained the Provincial Government, "is the result of rigorous application of the parameters established by national and regional guidelines, combined with evaluation criteria deemed objective and transparent. This approach has allowed us to maintain a school network consistent with the characteristics of the territory and the needs of local communities."
Provincial President Paolo Pireddu expressed his satisfaction. "The result certifies serious and data-driven work," he emphasized, "and for this I thank the Provincial Conference for the unified position expressed in recent months. Now," Pireddu added, "a more serene phase begins, useful for addressing the future challenges of the school system with clarity." The Provincial Vice President emphasized that confirming the structure also represents a starting point: "The permanent education panel will be a stable tool for discussion, capable of transcending the emergency mentality and planning structured interventions."
Satisfaction also comes from the provincial Campo Largo council group, which attributes the result to the mobilization of the territories and local administrators. "The mayors defended the identity of the communities, rejecting linear approaches," say Federica Piras, Laura Celletti, Renzo Ponti, and Angelo Masala, "recalling the battle against the proposed Global Institute in Bosa." The group, however, draws attention to the regional situation: "The appointment of a commissioner in Sardinia is an act that bypasses local institutions and comes after 38 mergers in three years. We now need a provincial observatory on school dropouts, with technical expertise and data analysis capabilities."
Regional Councilor Emanuele Cera of the Brothers of Italy party also commented on the issue, expressing his appreciation for the decision of the national government and the commissioner ad acta. "The guidelines were implemented in compliance with the law, preserving the strategic school autonomy of the Oristano area." Cera also emphasized the measure's consistency with the Provincial School Network Plan and the requests made by the mayors. "This safeguards the role of schools as fundamental institutions, especially in inland areas, which renews the commitment to ensuring a quality education offering capable of meeting the needs of the new generations."
