Scafa Bridge under special observation: structural investigations begin
Anas: Intervention to assess the condition. Roadway narrowed for a month, risk of traffic chaos on the outskirts of Cagliari.Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
What is the real state of health of the Scafa bridge, on the outskirts of Cagliari?
To answer this question, Anas has begun investigating the structure on September 29th. Thousands of vehicles pass through it every day on the 195 between the capital, Capoterra, Sarroch, Villa San Pietro, Pula, and other towns in southwestern Sardinia.
The reinforced concrete core of the canal pillars is exposed, and the road management company has decided to intervene. "To ensure the safety of the work, it is necessary to restrict the lane towards the capital until October 20th," the company announced. This mandatory measure risks disrupting traffic flow.
The interventions "are aimed at assessing the condition of the bridge through laboratory tests and structural investigations along the section affected by the restrictions, between approximately km 0.500 and km 2.400. They will be carried out using the by-bridge platform, an overhead platform that allows for safe work to be carried out."
The investigations, necessary for a more in-depth assessment of the bridge, "will be facilitated by 3D digital models of the structure acquired previously through a dedicated study. The information obtained will allow for more effective maintenance interventions."
