A 31-year-old mother of three, pregnant with her fourth, she's homeless in Sassari because her partner kicked her out of their home in 2023, along with the children . A desperate situation for the woman, unable to get help from anyone and finding herself on the streets. So, driven by need, she squats in an empty apartment in the Latte Dolce neighborhood with her children .

It was May three years ago, and the "peace," if you can call it that, lasted only a few months. Because, despite informing the property managers of her difficulties as a single mother, she was asked to leave the home immediately. This led to a complaint and a trial that concluded today in court in Sassari . Prosecutor Rosanna Nurra urged an acquittal for the defendant, who was forced to move into a home that wasn't hers to provide shelter for her young children . Defense attorney Giacomina Sole, who recalled her client's ordeal and the loneliness she endured during that period, lacking any support, agreed.

Judge Antonio Spanu acquitted the woman, applying Article 54 of the Criminal Code. This article governs the state of necessity, establishing that anyone who commits a crime to force someone to save themselves or others from a present and grave danger is not punishable . This was the case of the woman who could not leave her young children to live as homeless.
