The future is unclear for the Casa della Fraterna Solidarietà in Sassari. Yesterday, the announcement of the Metropolitan City's €14 million investment to redevelop the former police headquarters also raised questions about the fate of the facility on Corso Margherita di Savoia, which daily delivers food parcels to hundreds of needy people.
The premises are located right inside the "Ex Q" and could also be affected by a regeneration of the buildings.
"We have opened a discussion with the interested parties," said Metropolitan Mayor Giuseppe Mascia. "In the future, we will decide what options to take."
The meeting with the House's management has already taken place formally, thus demonstrating that the problem is part of the institution's agenda.
"There will be a concerted effort to develop their commitment," Mascia assures.
Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, private donors, and the tireless work of Aldo Meloni, the Casa della Fraterna Solidarietà provides food to a segment of the population facing serious hardship. Beyond food, the association helps with bill payments, the distribution of gas cylinders and clothing, and has established an on-site dental laboratory where thousands of dentures have been fitted free of charge.
