The AOU Sassari workers' strike scheduled for October 8th and 9th has been confirmed. This morning, a general meeting of department and management employees was held in the Aula Magna Barbieri of the Faculty of Agriculture. The strike stems from a series of critical issues repeatedly denounced by unions and union representatives, from staff shortages to overcrowding to the dismissal of several company professionals.

Furthermore, the contractual aspect remains, specifically, among the various items, regarding the 2024 and 2025 Employment Plans, productivity, additional pay, and recognition of overtime. These are all areas on which feedback is awaited. The two-day program was outlined today, starting on Thursday the 8th, when workers will travel to Cagliari to demonstrate in front of the Sardinia Regional Council building. A meeting will be held on Via Roma, and a meeting will be requested with the President of the Sardinia Region and interim Health Councilor, Alessandra Todde.

"We won't be asking for solidarity or promises: we will be asking for action, decisions, and solutions," it was stated at today's meeting. "The situation at the AOU of Sassari can no longer be considered solely a corporate issue: it concerns the right to health of an entire region."

The mobilization will continue on Friday, October 9th, with an open assembly starting at 10:00 a.m. in Sassari, in front of the AOU headquarters. "We're stopping for two days because we haven't been able to find answers for too long," the protesters stated, concluding: "The problems remain. Patience doesn't."
