A pizza, a few beers, and Ukraine. In November 2022, in an apartment in Sassari , two friends began arguing over dinner about the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe. Tempers flared between the 61-year-olds until one punched the other with such force that the victim suffered a fractured jaw.

The blow caused the man to suffer a lesion in his masticatory organs, which remains persistent despite treatment and surgery. It took over seven months before the man, represented by attorney Elisabetta Sotgia, was able to eat solid food again, and at the time of his first visit, the emergency room had given him a 40-day prognosis.

Today, in a summary hearing, preliminary hearing judge Gian Paolo Piana sentenced the defendant, represented by lawyer Roberto Risi, to two years in prison and ordered him to pay a provisional sum of €20,000. Attorney Sotgia had requested €50,000 in damages.
