Sassari, the pipeline becomes the home of the homeless: now a woman lives there

An old metal pipe in an abandoned courtyard in via delle Croci, San Pietro di Sassari area. It sounds unbelievable, but this has been home to some homeless for years.

"A man lived there for many months - says a resident -. Always very kind, he looked for snails and then sold them, sometimes knocking on my door. Then I never saw him again".

Now it is the turn of a woman, who has been attending the pipeline for a few weeks . A few blankets as a miserable bed, some clothing to protect themselves. Misery, despair, loneliness as companions. Sometimes even the indifference of the institutions.

In Sassari there are several homeless people. Someone is sleeping on the benches. There are those who occupy old buildings. Like the 54-year-old unemployed man from Tottubella (a hamlet of Sassari), evicted by the municipal administration from his own unused building, which the man had occupied for years and who is now forced to live in a small tent on a sidewalk.
