«Amazing results». Thus the mayor of Sassari, Nanni Campus, described what his council has achieved in 4 and a half years this morning at Palazzo Ducale, in the traditional end-of-year press conference.

«With symbolic works - he states - such as the intermodal centre, the recovery of the former Turritania, the opening of the Tavolara and the historic centre. Or the 20 million euros allocated for the resurfacing of the roads." All in the name of "not only a material but also cultural change" and bringing, according to the mayor, "new life and enthusiasm with the elected civic councilors, the councilors in the council and creating a new ruling class".

Campus reiterates his no to re-nomination but indicates the path for the next council to be "built around a civic perimeter".

On the controversy with the Region, and his observations regarding urban planning variations, he declares: «No one has contested the planning of what was proposed. They dispute technical aspects."

On the "canal" of the Fosso della Noce: «We are still waiting for the environmental impact assessments. But a hydraulic engineer must tell us that something is wrong with our project, not lawyers or accountants."

Then he opens the book of dreams on a future for Sassari: «Railways and tracks should be buried and the city should be opened towards the sea as others have already done. Another idea could be to build a second railway overpass in via Bogino."

Finally he returns to the failure of New Year's Eve 2022 with group dances: «We were told that various schools would fill more points with their members. After that, some of them stood us up." And while waiting for the concert in Piazza d'Italia with Renga and Nek, the mayor recalls the gala with Puccini's music on January 1, 2024 in the Teatro Comunale: «We are the first in Italy to inaugurate the Puccini year».
