«He told me: if you ask for help, if you scream, I'll kill you».

Dramatic testimony today in court in Sassari, from a 60-year-old alleged victim in a trial for mistreatment and injury against her ex-husband .

The woman spoke of the constant harassment she suffered from 2010 to 2023 , focusing in particular on the two incidents contested in the indictment. "He tied me naked to a chair with tape in 2012," she said in court before Judge Marta Guadalupi, "and doused me in alcohol, approaching me with a lighter and threatening to set me on fire."

The other episode dates back to 2023, when the woman was allegedly punched in the face, then he held scissors to her throat .

This episode coincides with the epilogue of the tormented relationship because, shortly afterward, the woman ran away from home at dawn and, rescued by law enforcement, was admitted to a protected facility where she gradually regained control of her life. Distancing herself from that violent and humiliating relationship: "He used straps, rubber hammers, or wet towels with a bar of soap," she said.

His anger was caused by a morbid jealousy, which led him to threaten death even to other people close to his wife: "When he hit me, he told me to go to the pharmacy and put on my makeup. He told me: 'If no one saw you, no one will believe you.'"

The case was filed before a judge after an initial dismissal. The prosecutor is Ilaria Achenza, the man's defense is entrusted to lawyers Maria Grazia Sanna and Mario Roggio, and the civil party defense is entrusted to lawyer Alessandra Pompili.
