Fresh from the World Championships in Budapest , the three athletes from Sassari who won the Italian kickboxing title were received this morning by the mayor of Sassari Giuseppe Mascia at Palazzo Ducale .
Cristian Mameli, Noemi Virdis and Iris Pirastru , model students at school and a source of great sporting pride for the city, talked about their recent experience in Hungary, where they represented Italy at the Wako World Championship (Wako - World Association of Kickboxing Organizations), the highest competition for practitioners of this sport. The championship saw the participation of 90 nations and more than 3000 athletes divided by category and weight.
The athletes were accompanied by coaches Andrea Damasconi and Donatella Panu of Asd Realsport Sassari. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Mayor Tore Dau and Councilor for Productive Activities Lello Panu.
