A dream vanished in the smoke of a fire with no suspected culprits or confirmed causes, so far. On the night between September 7th and 8th, near Porto Ferro, the food truck owned by Alessio Usai, a 34-year-old from Ploaghe, and his partner Irina, a 35-year-old Romanian, went up in flames. They had purchased the van months earlier .
"We're like in a bubble," he says. "We've never received any warnings or threats." The cause of the fire is still unclear, but the tragedy remains for a couple who had chosen to start their own business, starting a small business. "We sold street food from all over the world. From gazpacho to Greek salad, hummus, and Sardinian sandwiches. It was a choice dictated by not wanting to compete."
Their shop, Bonnie & Clyde, was mostly located in Porto Ferro and was the fruit of a shared dream . "We bought the vehicle in February, taking three months to restore it and spending over 25 thousand euros."
Then came the start of the business: Alessio gained experience as a chef in Sardinia, Umbria, and the Aosta Valley, and Irina worked in the dining room at various restaurants. "Now we're looking around," Alessio concludes, "and we'd like to own another food truck or manage a restaurant." And to resume cultivating a dream shattered by an unexplained fire.
