Fear is growing in Sassari prison after a policeman tested positive for tuberculosis . The infection occurred following contact with an infected prisoner . Several colleagues were involved. And now in the penitentiary the alarm is very high, with the staff in a panic.
«The agent – explain the unions – has therefore started treatment for TB and will have to undergo blood tests after 30 days to monitor any damage to his liver. We wrote to the management, to the health councilor and for information to the superintendent of the Penitentiary Administration. We would like to know what interventions they were implementing to combat the spread of the disease, but we never received any feedback."

In the meantime, uncertainty reigns in the penitentiary because «the risk that the infections could spread like wildfire is unfortunately real. What leaves us astounded is the lack of evidence regarding a topic deserving of absolute attention! We will inform the competent public prosecutor's office about the incident to verify whether there has been negligence on the part of those who should have facilitated mandatory checks between staff and prisoners."

In Sassari – we read in the statement from Sappe, Uilpa and Uspp – «the situation is out of control from the point of view of health safety . This is also why we will demonstrate in front of the Prap in Cagliari on June 28th . Perhaps the institutions are waiting for the dead person to intervene."
