More than six hundred fines in less than three months.
This is the balance sheet of the "zero tolerance" operation launched by the Sassari brigade command against the uncivilized who throw waste in the middle of the street or do not respect separate waste collection.
The violations were recorded not only with controls on the territory, but also thanks to the numerous cameras and micro-cameras installed in key points of the city, the so-called "camera traps".
In the month of June alone , there were 196 fines. «An always worrying figure - underlines the Command -, but lower than that of May, when there were 340. This can give hope that the presence of camera traps throughout the territory is carrying out a deterrent action against uncivilized people who do not respect the most basic rules. If in April those who conferred their waste arriving from neighboring countries were 79, in June less than half of the cases were registered: 35. Even those who were reluctant to follow the rules relating to the door-to-door collection service had to adapt and the sanctions went from 138 in May to 61 in June».
"Heavy" numbers, in short, which highlight, the Command points out again, "that too many still violate the most elementary environmental rules, dramatically affecting the phenomena of degradation that too often occur in the urban area of the city, and in the suburbs" .
There are many cases: from those who leave bulky waste near bins or in the streets instead of calling the municipal service that guarantees free collection, to those who still put plastic or small household appliances in waste bins.
All behaviors that prevent the Municipality of Sassari from reaching 65% of separate waste collection and lead to fines rather than premiums , inevitably ending up burdening the Tari, the waste tax.
