Threats, insults, and a criminal indictment for domestic violence in Sassari.
A court trial opened in recent days stemming from an incident dating back to late 2022, when the then national president of Sassari referees was surrounded by about 15 fans during a match on the Latte Dolce team's pitch.
During the match, there had been severe insults and animosity directed at the referee by some in the stands, which the referee observer was documenting with his cell phone. One of the spectators reacted violently to the fact that the proceedings were being recorded, attacking the referee's chairman with phrases such as "I'll tear you to pieces" and nearly throwing him from the stands.
The man was forced to flee and seek refuge in the parking lot of the sports complex, chased by other spectators, including a 66-year-old father of one of the players . The man had threatened to physically assault the injured party, failing to prevent his son from engaging in aggressive behavior.
In fact, the latter, a minor at the time, is accused of having threatened the arbitration advisor and attempted to attack him. The very fact of having permitted the minor's conduct constitutes an aggravating circumstance for the prosecutor to add to the crime of domestic violence. The next hearing before Judge Valentina Nuvoli is in May. The lawyer representing the injured party is Giuseppe Scarpa.
